Welcome to the Tiszakürt Arboretum!
The arboretum offers visitors a different pallet each season. In the spring, the season's beauty is amplified by the white, pink, purple and yellow adorning our collection of witchhazels, early magnolias, cherries and rhododendrons. In the summer, when most of our visitors arrive, the lush green of the arboretum stands out along the River Tisza in sharp contrast to the yellow-green fields and grasslands and the whites patches of saltmarshes. Autumn brings typically sunny days (our name for Indian summer translates as "Old Ladies' Summer"!) when the dominant yellow contrasts brightly with shades of orange, scarlet and red. The core of the 60 ha arboretum was planted in 1880 and lies along the second largest river of the Carpathian Basin, the Tisza (966 km). Szarvasi Arboretum, our sister arboretum, is just 37 km away (on Rte 44) in Szarvas, on the Körös river. You can enjoy both of these great arboreta of the Hungarian Plain in a single trip by spending one night in one of our convenient guest houses. We hope that your virtual walk will become a reality and that you will visit in person soon!
